Rachel is a fourth-year medical student at SUNY Upstate in the combined MD/MPH program. She received her BA in biochemistry from Vassar College. She played soccer her whole life and played at the NCAA Division III level in college for all four years. She worked as a lab technician in New York City for 2 years prior to medical school doing basic science research. Throughout medical school, she has been involved in a variety of research projects in the fields of public health, oncology, and gastroenterology. She was also President of Upstate’s Innovation & Entrepreneurship Group, Cardiology Club, and was a Student Learning Leader at Assumption Church Food Pantry. Rachel intends to pursue a residency in Internal Medicine. In her free time, she loves going to the gym, skiing, roller blading, and crocheting in the winter months!

Estelle Khairallah is a third-year medical student at SUNY Upstate Medical University. Originally from the Syracuse area, she received her BA in Physics from Hamilton College in 2023. At SUNY Upstate Medical University she has worn many hats, including serving as the Service-Learning Leader for Assumption Church Food Pantry and ARISE Adaptive Design, co-founding the Music as Healing program and the University United Methodist Church’s Health Screenings program, and coordinating the annual Service Fair for first-year medical students. She has also written a Syracuse.com opinion piece on immigrant health. Estelle intends to pursue a residency in Internal Medicine. Outside of medicine, she plays classical piano and has a passion for astronomy (ask her about her senior thesis on black holes!).
